Most people pre-ordering Grand Theft Auto 6 are paying $100 for the Ultimate Edition rather than $80 for the Standard one, according to Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick. The comment came during the company's latest earnings call, discussing the state of GTA VI pre-orders since they opened.
It's a striking split given the price gap: the Ultimate Edition costs a full $20 more than Standard, yet Zelnick says it's outselling the cheaper option among people ordering the game ahead of its November 19 launch. His explanation was straightforward — the people pre-ordering months in advance tend to be the most dedicated fans, and dedicated fans are more willing to pay for everything the top tier includes.
That tier adds exclusive vehicles, stylized weapon variants, outfits, tattoos, and hairstyles on top of the base game. The bulk of the package, though, comes down to five exclusive in-game shops — vehicle mod shops, clothing stores, tattoo parlors, and beauty salons — that Standard Edition players won't get access to.
Zelnick's comment doesn't resolve how that exclusivity actually plays out for Standard players in the shared open world — whether those five shops simply won't exist for them, or will be visible but locked. What it does confirm is the purchasing pattern itself, straight from Take-Two's own numbers: right now, the pricier edition is the one people actually want.
This is Take-Two's own CEO speaking on the record about the company's own sales data, so it's tagged confirmed. Reporting via Eurogamer.
